Christmas came early for the Blue Devils in the form of a 23 point road win Saturday afternoon at Fairview. Both teams came into the game sporting 6-1 records and in first place in their respective conferences. Independence left Fairview with their 7th win triggered by a solid defensive performance.
A second quarter defensive suggestion by Amy Ksiazka held the Warriors to 3 points for the period and allowed the Blue Devils to gain a half time lead of 30-14. A second defensive adjust at half time helped the Devils get out and run in the third quarter, scoring 28 points and posting a 58-25 lead that proved to be too much for the Warriors.
Riley Wilson achieved her 4th double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Also in double figures were Haylee Dmitruk and Kella Digeronimo with 13 points each. Centers, Madison Stepanik tallied 8 points with 9 rebounds and Kaitlin Richards had 6 points with 5 rebounds as well as protecting the rim for the Devils. To round out the scoring, Anna Weber had 3, Erica Esper 2 and Hailey Wilmot with 1.
The Blue Devils are on the road again next Saturday at West Geauga for a 7 pm tip.
